This supplement to PRS was published in October 2013 and features a comprehensive review of currently available hyaluronic acid soft tissue fillers. Topics include a review of the biophysical characteristics of the different products as well as the management of adverse events. The supplement also provided in-depth coverage of a new HA filler, Belotero. A review of the clinical data submitted for product approval is presented including data on dermal integration of the product, safety and efficacy review from both the US and European trials and the results of a clinical trial of persons of color. The last article features recommendations of a consensus panel on the use of the new filler. Faculty for this panel were Z. Paul Lorenc, MD, Steven Fagien, MD, Timothy Flynn, MD and Heidi Waldorf, MD. In additional to the printed supplement there is video available with highlights from the consensus meeting as well as 3 patient injection demonstration videos.
